Just wanted to share my experiences! I had been wanting to visit Philly for a while, and finally made it happen on my recent trip all over the northeast.

I did many of the mandatory, touristy things for a first time visitor - A trip to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, as well as a visit to the art museum (Any "Rocky" references aside, the museum itself is excellent!). Also did plenty of food binging at a number of different places while in town (admittedly, it was primarily centered around cheesesteaks, roasted pork sandwiches, and tomato pie). I was also fortunate enough to visit the Nodding Head brewery, as well as a few other pubs in town (In particular, Monk's Cafe stood out as one of my favorites).

The Italian market just south of downtown was great (Also where I found my favorite tomato pie I tried), and kind of made me think of it as an Italian version of the Pike Place Market back in my home city of Seattle.

Most of the locals I spoke with seemed friendly and down to earth (despite negative opinions/stereotypes I've heard that suggest otherwise), and overall, I found Philly to be a very vibrant city with a lot of great things going for it.

Really enjoyed my stay, and hope to return sooner, rather than later!

I'm glad you had a chance to visit and overall have a really good time. I plan to visit Seattle in the very near future.

I did, and can definitely see the analogy there too. I didn't get to spend too much time there, but was fortunate enough to try a sandwich from Tommy DiNics.

BillyJacc - Feel free to send a PM if you have any questions about Seattle for when you do visit.

Were you in town for the soccer match? I was at the game and noticed a group of Seattle fans in attendance. One thing I like about Seattle is that they were smart to put their stadium and entertainment venues downtown close to the vibrancy. Philadelphia took the cheapest easiest route available and wasted their opportunity. The Union play in a nice stadium but the location in Chester?Ugh
