I've done that commute and find going from the bridge to like 20th Street is extremely annoying - not a huge deal, just annoying as hell on a daily basis. As such, I'm revising my neighborhood recos to the below.

Top Suggestions based on what I think you'd like and the location
- Old City
- Northern Liberties

Second tier suggestions:
- Fishtown
- Queen Village
- Passyunk Square

Third tier:
- Bella Vista
- Grad Hosp (even though this is west of Broad, it's not heart of city so much easier to get east)
I think the real issue is living close to the expressway. 676 itself isn't all that crowded heading eastbound, but getting there can be a challenge. I commuted from University to Northeastern Cherry Hill as part of a job rotation, and it took me only 25-30 minutes because I was very close to the Schuylkill --> Vine Street on-ramp. Fighting your way through blocks of Center City traffic would definitely make it a slog.

yeah after realizing (I think) which sections of the city would greatly impact my commute, I feel that I am leaning towards Old City. I also like how it seems to be quite "nice" of an area with plenty of activities and nightlife... and it appears to be fairly easy to hop on the expressway from there.
