I would like to visit Philly for the Flower Show. The walking instructions have me walking right down Market Street to City Center. This will be daytime. Will I have any problems? Thank you for all your help.

You are fine walking from 30th street to Convention center. You are perfectly safe. Crazy things happens but on a normal day... you will be fine.

Totally safe, but if you don't feel like walking that far or it is cold out, there will be plenty of cabs outside of 30th Street station.

or ride the Regional Rail between 30th and Jefferson. Free if you have an Amtrak ticket.

It annoys me to think people have this perception of Philadelphia they can't walk down one of our most major streets safely but I understand it is the city and you should be careful... Anyways though, Take a walk through the city! You could take a taxi/train but walking across the bridge over to center city will give you sometime to soak in the views of Center City. I would then make a stop at Reading Terminal Market which is a block or two from . Seriously you would be doing yourself a favor ha. Flower show always has some pretty amazing exhibits. It is a busy time so if you plan on having dinner out at one of the more hot spots, I would call for a reservation soon.

I've actually done this exact walk in which u are referring... from that 30th street station to that Reading terminal, which I think is like right next to the convention center and it was safe. Not an issue. You'll be fine.

I was going to suggest that but I didn't realize it was free with an Amtrak ticket. Good to know! Honestly I don't think they even check between Jefferson Station and University City.

I am really looking forward to this year. Last year was a bit of a disappointment but the year before was phenomenal. The only plus last year was that I was living here by then so I could walk up during the evening, so I didn't have to deal with the crowds. The only problem was, it was so cold on the way home that my contacts clouded up in my eyes, and I had to blindly hail a cab!

It not only annoys me it infuriates me that people have this perception regarding Center City. That is the first thing these people think about our city is that something bad will happen to them.

It really wasn't that long ago that DC was the murder capital of the country.

As someone else pointed out the bigger concern for the OP is the weather. A long, possibly cold, walk to the
Convention Center.

Me and my friend walked all the way from 30th Street Station to the Convention Center when we visited this past Saturday, it's definitely safe during the daytime and the walk from the Old City Hall area to the Station at night wasn't too bad either. The both of us are from the DC region as well, don't forget to visit Reading Terminal Market after the Flower Show. Trust me, you'll be overwhelmed! Check the Market's hours first.

Enjoy Philly!
