Hello,

Are there any cool suburbs northeast of Philadelphia? Anything like Conshohocken or Roxborough but northeast of the City. The reason I ask is that I just got a good job offer in Princeton, NJ, and would like to live near Philly. The extreme northeast limits of the city are a possibility, but the wage tax makes me want to live just outside city limits. Especially if there are mass-transit options so we could go into center city on a Saturday night. That would really be a great bonus!

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!

Yardley? There are no conshohockens northeast of the city.I think only the trenton line has decent evening service though in which case, no, there are none. Bristol might be that town someday. Really you could save money and live in Bristol or Croydon with no wage tax and easy train access to philly or you can pay the wage tax and have a longer commute.

Have you considered just living in or around Princeton? From what I've seen of it, it's a very nice town.

But yeah, outside of maybe like Yardley / New Hope--or maybe even Newtown--you're not going to find much in the way of vibrant town centers.

Jenkintown? It's more north than northeast though.

Princeton is, indeed, very charming.

I concur. Great town. It is the idealistic Ivy setting, IMHO. However, it is much slower and quieter than Philly if that's what you're looking for.

Hi there,
I'm in that situation and have been for a number of years. Most replies are pretty much right on - you have more or less two options if you want to experience any kind of QOL regarding social life.

1. live in Philly (need to be near 95). I would suggest Queen Village, Pennsport, Old City or Northern Liberties). 2. live in Princeton.

If you provide a little more info. on your age, living situation, likes/dislikes and general income level, I can be much more specific with recos. Good luck with it!

Seriously, try Chambersburg. It's the one big section of Trenton that hasn't gone down the toilet in the last 40 years.
