I work out at 1500 Market and am trying to find "free" parking. Granted I know its impossible but can anyone recommend anything? Im willing to walk up to a mile and a half each way to 1500.

Thanks

Everything within that radious will be 2 hour parking during business hours or permit only. I suggest a monthly rental at a garage or lot.

Where do you live? Is there any reason you can't take public transportation?

Im from Edgewater Park, NJ north of Delran. I normally drive down to PATCO but hate it.

You can park in South Philly, south of Washington is easy to find non permit parking. It's just about 1.5 miles to 1500 Market or you can just take the Broad St Line to city hall, would take like 10 minutes. Just park close to Broad St.

And University City in Powelton Village is all free parking.

It would be a 10 block walk or so, or you can take the subway from 34th street to City Hall.

This one is a bit out there, but there's a giant free parking lot at the piazza in fishtown. It's about a 5 minute walk to the market frankford el which will take you straight to 1500 market.

Why not take the Riverline to PATCO? With all the time you're going to waste sitting in traffic and circling to find a free spot, I'd think you'd be better off taking transit.

Ok. If you want to walk.

There are plenty of free street parking between Callowhill and Spring Garden by 5th, 6th, etc.. I know quite a few people at my work place who park there for free. You do have to get there by 7:30

I used to park there and walk to Independence Park everyday. It's a much longer walk for you to 15th and Market. Maybe you can make use of the new Indego bike rental.

Very very difficult to find parking there ... I know. I work at Penn Law but my gym is Drexel Rec Center. Nearly every street in Powelton Village (and the rest of University City for that matter) has 1, 2, or 3 hour parking limitations. They drive around and enforce it very efficiently.

Both the locals and the Parking Authority are aware commuters want to park free in University City because of it's proximity to Center City. Forget it. You get free on street parting west of 42nd Street and north of Market .... but fair warning: you are parking in "Da 'Hood"!!!!!!!
