I'm a life long NJ guy, from a small town, but small town blues are beginning to get the best of me. So I’d like to make a move to experience the city life, while I’m still fairly young, single and childless. I was hoping for a litte advice.

When are you moving? Would like to shoot for last quarter 2019 or first quarter 2020
Where are you coming from? South Jersey(Swedesboro)
Why are you moving? New experience
Where will you be working? Commute back to Jersey
Have you been here yet? Very familiar with the city. Just not familiar with the neighborhoods for living purposes

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? Apartment, 1 br or studio
How much can you spend? 1000-2000 (preferably around 1500)
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Hi-rise, but not deal breaker

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Single, 30, no kids
Do you prefer public or private schools? n/a
Do you have pets?No
Do you want or need a yard? no
Are you keeping a car? 1 car
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? more bustling activity

What do you want to be closest to? Basic services, restaurants and nightlife.

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? Doesn’t have to be similar age, but a below 45 crowd seems prefable. Fairly diverse racial makeup

Favorite Beverage - Beer and tequila

Center City, Fairmount, Northern Liberties, or Fishtown is what I'd recommend.

Oh, I just noticed you want to keep a car. Still definitely Fishtown or Northern Liberties (there are definitely places for 1 car in Northern Liberties in your budget range)- I have a friend who wants to move out of such a place, lol.

Not sure if Fairmount has many places that come with a parking spot. Center City has such places, but might not be within your price range.

Museum Towers, Granary, City View, Dalion all have parking. The first three are in Spring Garden. The Dalion is in Fairmount.

The OP is looking for racially diverse. The inhabitants of those four areas are predominantly Caucasian.

Thank you all, for the input thus far.. When I say “fairly diverse,” what I really mean is i’d prefer somewhere that’s not like 99.5% of any race.

Oops, I didn't notice that.
Honestly, it's sad that maybe only CC has a bit of diversity out of all those places.
All those places are respectable areas and convenient to downtown.
