Will be moving to Pennsylvania from Richmond,Virginia in March.

We are a young family in mid 20's looking to move to a nice area that is safe between Philadelphia city center and South to Delaware line. Would prefer closer to Delaware line if possible due to me working throughout Delaware on a daily basis.
We also would like to be close to stores, places to eat, shopping etc... within 10 min drive max.
All info will be helpful!

What is your price range? I recommend Chadds Ford, Glen Mills, or parts of West Chester. All are close to shopping and dining along Route 1 and in downtown West Chester and an easy commute to Delaware down Rt202.

Media is a great option...has all you're looking for. Don't know how easy it will be to find rentals in your price range.
Other nearby communities that are convenient to both CC Phila & DE are Springfield, Swarthmore, Boothwyn, Ridley Park. Nice towns with shopping, restaurants nearby.

Media is a good option as well. Not sure of the traffic situation on 95 toward Delaware during the rush. Hopefully someone else can clarify.

Also with your price range - you're probably only going to be able to get a 1 bedroom.

Agree with sixth about Media. Its an older, clean, safe mainstreet usa town with a small charming town center, its very nice and is surrounded by towns with plenty of big box retailers and chain restaurants.

The West Chester,East Goshen,West Goshen,Westtown, area should be checked out.A very pleasant laid back area with alot of apartment/townhomes.

Garnet Valley,Glen Mills and Chadds Ford are also excellent options and a bit closer to DE.

West Chester, Media,Swarthmore are walkable. The other areas mentioned in this thread are more auto oriented towns. Also unfortunately this isnt one of the most cultutrally diverse areas to live in unless you count Italian restaurants and Irish pubs. To what you are looking for(close to De. border) you arent going to find many Vietnamese or Thai restaurants.

University City,South Philly, parts of center city have excellent culturally diverse restaurants. Not in the suburbs though.

West Chester and Media are the only true walkable towns listed above. The rest of the towns are suburban and car-oriented. West Chester has a lot of little neat places to eat. I can't comment for sure about Media but I would assume there would be non-chain places to eat there as well.

Any specific places in and around South Philly that are walkable and diverse?
Thanks everyone for the info!

Does anyone have any other places that qualify?
