Walk North on 17th Street to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and stroll the beautiful Parkway to the Art Museum at 26th Street. Very safe.

I just saw your header says 500 block of North 17th Street. Are you sure about that? There is a Radisson at 17th and Locust which is 200 South 17th Street. But I don't see any listed at 500 North 17th Street. If in fact you are talking about 500 Norht 17th Street, then walk south on 17th Street to the Parkway (and then west to 26th).

Yeah, I don't think there would be any problems walking in that area safety-wise.

As noted above, you should walk up the Ben Franklin Parkway to get to the Art Museum, just because that is a very attractive street.

That whole area has been gentrified and has come a long way in 10 years. It all started when ABC had a TV series which I think was simply called Philly. It starred Kim Delaney. My friends live in the area. They used to watch scenes being filmed in the spring and early summer. When they first moved in during the late 90's the neighborhood was kind of dicey. I have been to their house a few times in recent years and have noticed positive changes. So, you should not have anything to worry about.
