Hi, I’m starting a job in the Navy Yard soon and, in the short term, will either drive or commute by train. I plan to move and am looking for a safe place to live where I can walk around .5 mi to the train station (zone 3 or 2) with a 1 hr. max commute to the Navy Yard. (I wouldn’t mind driving to a station, but some have limited/no parking.) I’ve been looking along the Ambler-Glenside corridor as well as Swarthmore-Gladstone. (Seems like everything available has at least 3BR!) Suggestions? What areas I might avoid? A better option?

I’m pretty sensitive to sound, so the idea of sharing walls is not that appealing. And I really want my own washer/dryer. I've read some related posts, but most seem to be concerned about schools, and I'm not, or the posters have more $ to spend. Would KoP work? Conshy's cute, but stuff in my range is either not walkable or is a row home. Your thoughts are much appreciated!

When are you moving? In the next 3 months hopefully

Ambler rental
Why are you moving?

Where will you be working?

Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up?
Walk up

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb?
PA suburb (want to be nearer to family in Mont. Co. and Chester Co.)

Single/no kids

Calm and quiet

What do you want to be closest to?
1. Train or subway stations (want to be .5 mile so I can walk)
2. Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
don’t care about nightlife or schools

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood?
Like some diversity, esp. if there are ethnic restaurants/groceries nearby as a result (esp. love Indian), but wouldn't mind if people were similar (white, Protestant)

Coke or Pepsi?
Milk, tea, or water, please!
