I have a friend in North Jersey whose son is collecting postcards from the 50 states for a school project. Other than going to a rest stop on the Turnpike, does anyone know a brick-and-mortar location where I could get a state postcard?

Pretty much any drugstore (Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid), Hallmark, Independence Visitor Center, Reading Terminal, etc etc

i did't realize drugstores still sold postcards. i always associate that with sixties.

We have postcards in the family form 50 years ago. I don't think any email would have survived a fraction of that.
