Okay, I'm starting to believe that the Phillies may have an okay season. Anyone else?

I don't see a winning season, but I don't see last place either. With the Braves and Marlins around, the Phils could finish third. As the season goes on, they'll be able to begin the prospect shuttle. Hopefully the draft will be pitching-heavy. I'm going on record on saying sometime in 2017 the Phillies will start to win more than they lose. If they use their wealth wisely in the 17/18 offseason, the Phils could be back in the postseason by 2018.

Good assessment.

I don't know if they can play .500 ball, but I'm excited to see what the young players can do. I'm just hoping they hustle, play mentally sound and bring some excitement to the ballpark.
Winning the season series versus the Mets would be good enough for me.

One thing that concerns me is the bevy of young starting pitching talent in the N.L. East ... I hope the Phillies can soon match them with their own young guns. That'll be their only hope.
And I can see Maikel Franco being a 25-30 homer guy, but they really need to find another young bopper.

I'm no longer complaining about the trade of Ken Giles to the Astros.

The line on Vince Velasquez in today's 3 - 0 victory over San Diego: 9 IP, 3 H, 16 K, 0 W. Electric! Has to rank up there as one of the most dominating performances ever by a Phillies starting pitcher.

Phillies now 5 - 5 with the next six versus Washington and the Mets. Let's hope they stay competitive.

I agree with all of the above! I'm a fan, though, no matter how they do, and try to watch or listen to every game if possible. I was also one of those who was pretty upset when Giles was traded! But Velasquez seems to be doing quite well, and as for a closer, I was a bit shocked in a good way when Gomez actually made some saves for once. How is it I never heard of this Daniel Stumpf until he was suspended?

I always have all the faith in the world in this team! Go Phils!

Let's put yesterday's game behind us...

Anyhow I hate seeing all those empty blue seats in the stands. Sigh...

I do, too. People aren't going to pay to see a subpar product, though. I'm the biggest fan around, but I don't go nearly as often as I did when they were beating the hell out of the rest of the league.
