My pregnant wife and I will likely be moving to the Glenside area soon from Ardmore and are expecting around Labor Day (perfect, I know). We are in our early 30s. In Lower Merion/Ardmore we've been spoiled with several very active Facebook groups and I haven't been able to find anything like that so far for Cheltenham/Abington. I've browsed Meetup.com, but there aren't a lot of options and those that I found don't seem to be very active. I was searching for family/parent-based groups, as well as community goings-on/yard sale/freecycle ones. We don't plan on joining a religious community, either.

Does anyone know of any such resources?

Thanks.

oh my --- I guess when I searched this did not come up- I just revived a thread on Glenside.
Talk about great minds think alike.
I am interested as a possible move for a retired ( or certainly senior couple). I too have looked at meetup and pages like that and don't see much there. Curious to see replies here on updated information. I have heard its a good area worth looking into, but specifically not easy to get info.

Abington has a MOMs group and I believe they have a Facebook page. The breastfeeding resource center (brc) in Abington also has an in-person new moms group (for breastfeeders) but a variety of other kid-related classes like music, etc. Nearby Mt Airy, Chestnut Hill is also close enough to Glenside that you could take advantage of their many, many parent groups. There is a google group listserv for the area called Mt Airy Parents Network (they also offer a playgroup through he listserv) and there is a new mom group in Mt Airy through the Nesting House.

Thanks! Perhaps an uncommon question, but do you know of any Dad groups as well?
