I don't have that problem. There are so many things to see and do in the region that I have a hard time finding an excuse to stay home.

I moved to Center City from Florida for a number of reasons, not the least of which was to finally rid myself of ownership of an automobile. I gave my car away five years ago and haven't pumped a gallon of gas since. The savings in time, money and aggravation have been phenomenal! I walk to just about everywhere I need to go but will occasionally use public transit. I don't miss having a car one bit--only wish I was able to get rid of the one I had long before I did. If you want to live car-free you just can't beat Center City Philadelphia!!

I've been car-free for about a year. Don't miss my car at all.

Agree with those who say Philly is the type of city where you could easily be without a car. And it's not just one neighborhood of Philly where that's true. I commute to Philly from NJ and I sure wish I could take public transportation (I live nowhere near even a PATCO station, unfortunately).
