We're looking to buy a house in Philly and found a really neat looking house on the 1500 block of Montrose St. via Trulia. When we went to check it out our friend pointed out that it seemed like all the houses on the block were on the market!! So while I really like the house we looked at i've got alarm bells going off in my head.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going on there? it seemed like a nice enough block with what looks like a new construction about to go up.

If anyone has any insights I'd appreciate them

thanks

1500 block of Montrose is fine! This is the southern part of the hood that's seeing a lot of new construction. Go for it.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it went under contract just as we were preparing our offer! Found another one in the Fairmount/Brewerytown area. It's on north 27th just south of Poplar. Any tips on that idea? Neither of us have ever lived in that area so no idea what to expect.

House hunting is not easy

Since it's south of Poplar, I think you'll be fine. There are some positive developments happening on Girard Ave. so the area above Poplar might be enormously better in a few years.
