What are some safe cities outside Philly? I'm a female African America relocating from Spring Field NY to PA and would appreciate some suggestion for towns near Philadelphia.

Prefer safe neighborhoods, near diner, grocery store, etc..., 30 mins or less drive to Philly, affordable rent. I currently pay under $950 for rent in NY and hoping to pay between $595 - $795 for 1 to 2 BR. I will be working in Downtown Philly so places that can access public transit.

I'm not interesting in NJ cities only places in PA very close to Philly.

Place must be:
Safe (a must)
Quiet
Affordable rent (a must)

There are few places I'm looking into: Delaware county, Wayne
Ardmore, Haverford, Narberth.

Thanks in advance.

I'm African-American and I grew near Ardmore, in the next town: Haverford. Ardmore is by far more diverse. Haverford really isn't anymore.

However your real barrier, wrt to these places, will be the rent you can afford. The likelihood of you finding anything, livable, in your price range is remote.

Agree with kyb, there is NO way you will find anything within your price range in those towns. Room in a house, MAYBE. But full apartment? Absolutely not.

I may have to lengthen my traveling time to an hour, maybe other places come on the list in my price range. I'm looking into Bethlehem.... Any thoughts will be helpful. Thanks!

Bethlehem is over an hour and a half away, likely longer with traffic. Not accessible to Philly by public transit.
