Hello!

I will be moving to Philly in late May early June from Seattle for a new Job offer. My employer is located in Bensalem, Pa and I am looking for advice on where to stay. Searching for a safe area, with easy commute to the corporate office. My rental budget is in the range of $1100 to $1400 studio or 1 bd.

When are you moving? Late May - Early June
Where are you coming from? Seattle, Wa
Why are you moving? Job
Where will you be working? Bensalem, Pa
Have you been here yet? No
Will you buy or rent? Rent
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Apartment would be the first preference, but I am open to suggestions depending how safe the area is
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? - Open

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb? - Open to suggestions. Need a safe area

Are you married or single? Single/Straight
Do you have pets? No
Do you want or need a yard? No preference
Are you keeping a car? Yes, One
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? - Prefer calm and quiet but raised as a City guy.

What do you want to be closest to? Basic Services, Train/Subway (as i intend to use the public transport for commuting to office)
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
Nightlife/Beer Bars
Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood?- Would prefer to stay near an Asian community but I am open to suggestions

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

Where exactly in Bensalem is your work? There isn't good public transit up that way... one line on the Regional Rail (West Trenton) passes to the north of Bensalem (Trevose and Neshaminy Falls would prob be the closest stops) so you may not be able to solely rely on public transit. Though if you are able to make it work from one of those stops, I'd maybe look at Jenkintown. Areas northeast of Philly are generally more suburban/calm/quiet than they are bustling activity. If you want to drive to work, I'd look into Bristol.

Thx Becca8377, the work office is 10 min away north from Parx Casino.

Any fairly new/safe apartments in Bristol? Im trying to avoid any related "section8" living establishments in the area.

Also, how is the commute from the Chestnut Hill area to Bensalem like? Would that be a convenient commute utilizing public transit or no? I could drive as well.... I'll be going into the office only 2x a week in Bensalem as I can work remotely from home.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Ok that doesn't help much. Use Google Maps to figure out how far it is from the Trevose and Neshaminy stations to your work, then you can determine if public transit is doable. If it's not walking distance, how would you get from the station to work?

I'm not familiar with apartments in either of the places I mentioned, I just know about the general areas. You can use Hotpads.com to look for places.

CH is not commutable to Bensalem by public transit (it would take 2 hours). It's about a half hour drive depending on traffic. Google Maps is your friend.

Here's the SEPTA map. The only places I would consider commutable by train would be on the West Trenton line. SEPTA | Clickable Regional Rail & Rail Transit Map
