Need some pointers from the fellow forum members. I am getting a good opportunity in Delaware. My wife currently works for state of NJ in Trenton. I have a 2.5 year old little one. We currently reside in Jersey city so pretty use to have a good and cozy environment for my LO as of now.

I don't have much idea about PA. Can anybody suggest me good communities where I could rent which would have good childcare center nearby owing to the fact that I would be commuting to Delaware and my wife would be commuting to Trenton.

Pretty much clueless at this point in time. Would be glad if you people can pour in your suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
Partha

Probably somewhere in Montgomery County PA. Or Center City Philadelphia.

What part of Delaware? Wilmington? Newark? Dover? That seems like a pretty crazy commute for both of you - traffic in both directions.... How much can you afford, what kind of place are you looking for? Apartment? House?

You might want to ask the mods to move this to the Philadelphia area sub-forum. And while you're at it, fill out the questions in this thread and post them here. //www.city-data.com/forum/phila...formation.html

Plymouth Meeting would be my suggestion. It's nearly the suburban Philadelphian midpoint between Trenton and Wilmington. From there you could take I-276 East to U.S. Route 1 North to Trenton. It would be about 30-35 miles, which would probably be just over an hour each way with traffic. To Wilmington it would be about 35 miles via I-476 South and would take roughly 75 minutes each way with traffic. If you're okay with each of you having a 60-75-minute commute each way, then Plymouth Meeting would work.

I do worry about lifestyle adjustment though. Jersey City is very dense and is mostly quite walkable whereas most of Montgomery County is suburban in nature. Nearby Conshohocken may work, as it is an older, denser city right near Plymouth Meeting.

To the OP:

New Jersey requires state employees to live in New Jersey, so unless your wife wants to leave her job, Pennsylvania is not an option. To strike a balance between Trenton and Delaware (don't know where, assuming Wilmington?), you should probably be looking in Camden County near I-295...Cherry Hill, Haddonfield if you can afford it, Barrington a smidgen further south. Neither commute will be great, but plenty of people do worse.
