Hi! I am moving to Pennsylvania for work in June and I need help deciding where to live. I will be working in Berwyn pa. I am looking for an urban town where there is a young person lifestyle with a lot of brewery’s and restaurants. I am only 23 years old so I will be working most the time but would love to enjoy the weekends and be able to walk around. I don’t want to live in Philadelphia city center because I don’t want to deal with the traffic. But I would like to be somewhat close to the city and work. Can anyone suggest any good towns that are located between both that have an urban/young person lifestyle? All suggestions and advice would help. Thank you

The only place you're going to find "hi-rise" apartment buildings is in the city. I don't automatically push young people to the city, but honestly, it sounds like for quality of life, that would be your best bet. The Paoli/Thorndale regional rail transit line takes you right to Berwyn, so depending on where your office is in proximity to the train station or if your employer runs shuttles, you should be okay.

I have been looking to move to either Ardmore, Manayunk, West Chester or Wayne. But I cant figure out which place would be a good fit for me. If I didnt want to live in the city which one of these place would you say has the best nightlife for a single person like me? I just want to be close to the city and work but also be able to still meet people. I will be spending most of my time working or at the gym.

I would love to live in the city but I will have my car with me and I don't want to drive around all night after a long day looking for parking or be stuck in traffic all morning going to work.

Based on the areas you'd mention, I'd go in this order: Manayunk, Ardmore, West Chester. Wouldn't even consider Wayne. FYI Manayunk IS in the City of Philadelphia so you will pay the wage tax... and a drive from Manayunk will definitely be longer than a half hour especially when you factor in 76. You won't find many high rises in any of those areas either.

Why did you toss out Wayne? Just curious. The fact that it has a vintage(well kinda)movie theater would trump the others inspite of my familiarity with Ardmore if I was shopping for suburban living. I'm a movie nerd.
