There isn't really anything truly comparable to Evanston or Cambridge. The closest might be Bala Cynwyd or maybe Ardmore. But that makes for a worse commute to Yardley.

Also maybe Haddonfield, NJ. Although that's not fantastic for Yardley, either. But it's do-able.

Someone else will have to chime in on Yardley. It's a nice area, but somewhat far from Center City. Since your job is in Yardley, though, great. You might want to consider Doylestown to live where there's more going on, especially for someone in their 30's.
Right. And maybe Newtown as well?

You don't have to live "in" Philly. You can live close to it and be fine. I enjoy going to Philly, but I know I wouldn't want to live there. Yardley is close enough, but if you want to be close to the city you can look at the Levittown area which is sort of between the two.

Thanks. Apparently the company is moving to Princeton, NJ.

If offered the job, I'd still live in PA (presumably in the Yardley area).

Fortunately, the tax liability would still be PA rates not NJ rates.

New Hope is a pretty good small town for singles. It's got a thriving restaurant and arts scene. Touristy on weekends but there's a lot going on.

Thanks. I've heard good things about New Hope and it's actually driving distance to Princeton, NJ.

Do you know of any upscale apartment communities in New Hope proper or the area in general? The main amenities would be internal W/D and garage parking (detached garage is OK).

I'd say Ardmore, New Hope, or Doylestown. You may even consider Conshohocken.
