I would look at Pennsport although your budget will be tight if you want more than 1 bedroom for $1,200. Deals can sometimes be found. It is a cute neighborhood that is very walkable with a good amount of stuff to do. Parking tends to be much better than the rest of south philly since so many people park their cars underneath the overpass; though it is still not the suburbs and you can't count on parking directly in front of your house/apartment. The GF can walk to work or take a bus. Good luck.

Agreed, I really don't see this working for the amount of money they can afford. $1200 alone is doable... with one car maybe. 2 cars and easy street parking? Nope. It's either one or the other - you want rent for $1200 or you want parking for 2 cars.
