I just graduated and got an offer that I'm most likely going to accept. So...

When are you moving? Next month
Where are you coming from? NYC outer borough
Why are you moving? Work
Where will you be working? Bala Cynwyd
Have you been here yet? Yes, 3 times. Don't really know where anything is though

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Probably an apartment. I'd like to keep rent + utilities around $1100
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Doesn't matter

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb? Not sure. What are the advantages/disadvantages of living in PA vs. living in NJ?
(If you answered NJ - post your answers here: //www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...-philadelphia/)

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Single, no
Do you prefer public or private schools? N/A
Do you have pets? No
Do you want or need a yard? No
Are you keeping a car? Yes
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Calm and quiet

What do you want to be closest to?
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)

Nightlife
Train or subway stations

Being close to work is the most important factor for me though

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? I guess I'd prefer to live near young working professionals such as myself.

Coke or Pepsi? Coke, c'mon

If you want calm and quiet, and close to work, I'd look right in Bala Cynwyd. You will avoid paying the Philly wage tax that way too. Basic services are all right there too on City Line Ave.

I'd also say to look in Bala. Done.

Thanks. How much should I reasonably expect to pay a month for rent and utilities for a 1 bedroom apartment?

Check Craigslist and/or Hotpads, should be able to find something under $1100
