Relocating to Philadelphia area. Loved a lot about Blue Bell when we saw it this weekend, but I'm nervous about a potential commute to Center City. I don't have a job yet but a lot of my good prospects are there. Tips and realistic times commuting from there. I'm willing to drive to train station to be able to get express or more frequent train options

Also open to other options based on the below...
We are moving from NYC for a better work-life balance for our kids and I'm worried that Blue Bell won't provide balance. Main Line seems too expense. Overall rental options seem limited.

When are you moving? July/August 2016
Where are you coming from? NYC
Why are you moving? Husband's job
Where will you be working? He will be in conshohocken 3 days a week but all over the area the rest
Have you been here yet? yes

Will you buy or rent? rent for a year to get a sense of where we really want to live. Ideally would stay in similar area.
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? n/a
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend?
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Ideally a townhouse, but open to apartment. Up to $2,800.

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb? PA
(If you answered NJ - post your answers here: //www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...-philadelphia/)

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married, 2 children, 5 and 3
Do you prefer public or private schools? public with full day kindergarten (this seems to be a big issue i'm noting)
Do you have pets? Yes, golden retriever (another issue it seems)
Do you want or need a yard? want but don't need
Are you keeping a car? yes, 2
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet?

What do you want to be closest? Ideally 30-45 minute max commute.
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
Nightlife
Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? Diverse is fine

Coke or Pepsi?

30-45 minute commute from blue bell to CC would be impossible. I would look into Conshohocken if I were you.

Ambler to Suburban Station via train is about 40 minutes. There is a fair amount of Blue Bell within a 10-minute drive of the Ambler Train Station. The commute could be less than an hour each way.
