Young professional couple moving from NYC to Philly suburbs for new jobs. Looking for the best commute; safe, family friendly neighborhood ; must be within reasonable commute to both Phoenixville and Bensalem. We love the outdoors but also enjoy great restaurants and some walkability . We welcome suggestions and thoughts on King of Prussia, Conshohocken, Plymouth Meeting, and any other areas! Our ideal rental will also be in a modern apartment building with amenities or townhouse community. Thanks!!

If you're not ruling out live in one location and have a long commute to the other, Phoenixville is an easy choice.
But if you're looking for a reasonable equitable/midpoint, Ambler & vicinity would be worth considering (maybe 5 miles closer to Bensalem than to Ph'ville). Good restaurants, great movie theater, close to the PA Tpk, walkable ... overall nice vibe.

Thanks for your suggestion! We will definitely check it out. We are concerned with choosing a reasonable commute also based on traffic patterns. We have heard the philly area traffic can be difficult. Perhaps a reverse traffic strategy would be good so we are traveling against rush hour traffic. Thanks!

In these areas, traffic are more congested in the morning going West and South. You want to be living nearer Phoenixville than Bensalem. It will make the trip to Bensalem longer (and possible more tolls), but going that direction in the morning is opposite of most traffic.

If I were in your situation, I'd live in Phoenixville.

The only problem is that then one of us will have a very long commute. One of us will have to commute between Bensalem and also Nazareth Hospital and one to Phoenixville. We are trying to share the distance so we are both driving under 40 minutes . More suggestions please!

If the most important thing is splitting the commute, I second the suggestion of Ambler. That's your best bet. We actually rented a townhouse there about 15 years ago -- directly from the owner and it worked well for us. So definitely look up listings on craigslist or even through realtors to find townhouses that are available for rent but aren't in a rental complex.

Conshohocken would also be good.

Sounds like a good choice to me, you can take 276 to Bensalem and 23 to Phoenixville. Fortunately both commutes probably have you going in the opposite direction of most people (i.e. more people going from Phoenixville towards KOP/Conshy in the morning than vice versa aka your commute, and same with Bensalem).
