Discussing a potential move and I would like suggestions on where to look at home. Below is the criteria.

1. Good commute (preferably 30 mins) to Princeton
2. Low crime/nice area
3. We would love a Victorian
4. I enjoy fixing up homes and selling/renting. So where would be a good place to buy a home needing work that has great resale and profit potential?

Thanks!

Look at Newtown or Yardley or maybe anywhere in Council Rock school district

Within the 30 minute commute

If you're stuck on keeping your commute to <30 minutes, then you're basically looking at Newtown or Yardley (maybe Washington Crossing too). They also both offer your older homes but, since they're relatively small towns, there may not be a ton of options.

Good luck!

Is Northampton a desirable area? I have ran across a few historic homes with a ton of potential.

Yes, Northampton township is a part of the Council Rock School District. Very good area. It's hard to go wrong with most places in Bucks.

New Hope and surrounding areas might be a possibility too but I don't know what your budget is like, or how rural or urban you want to be.

Is there some reason you're stuck on living in PA? There's historic homes in NJ too. Lambertville is right across the river from New Hope and has a number of historic homes, but I don't think it's quite as expensive. Princeton itself is very historic, but of course also very expensive.

I think it is. Less congested than some of the surrounding areas and more pleasant scenery and rolling hills. Council Rock school district which is supposed to be good. Not really what comes to mind when looking for historic victorian homes though, but I'm sure they're tucked away in there somewhere if you found some!

Yes. Just avoid the rust belt places like Morrisville, Bristol, Croydon, Cornwells Heights and Andalusia.

Default Commute

If you can afford it: Newtown. My cousin lives in the borough (tons of Victorians) but settled for a rancher. Newtown is very, very pricey and taxes are insane. There is also Yardley (I know a house-cape cod-for sale near the lakes). You just want to be near I-95 North to hop on the Scuddersfall. The issue with this is that the nearer the river one is, the most expensive...Washington Crossing, New Hope, Upper Makefield, Newtown.
If you don't mind more of a drive I'd also check out Churchville, Richboro, Ivyland...the latter has a few Victorians in the Ivyland borough. I currently live in Doylestown borough which is Victorian central but I'd hate to drive to Princeton each day. Langhorne is bad enough!
