Keep your eye on sites in & near Center City that could house a Lidl, as I've seen mention that they are looking at Trader Joe's as part of their competition. I could also see them building in University City & Chestnut Hill.

Speaking of Lidl, I have it on good authority that the first one in this area is coming to a former Pathmark in Warminster.

Good. I hate that A&P took down Pathmark.

The 1st 10 Lidls have opened. Apparently, they have a huge flyer on their website. There should be feedback soon on some of the VA, NC, & SC boards. I think that it will be a plus in Philadelphia & the suburbs.

Found it - on Groceteria. The facsimile of the article is part of the site's entry on the chain:

Penn Fruit ... Funny, an older Jewish co-worker of mine keeps telling me about how his grandfather and father made their fortunes in Penn Fruit and left him a nice chunk of dough. That's the only time I've ever heard about them.

I went to a new Lidl today. The US Lidls are like a cross between Aldi & Trader Joe's. This puts pressure on Trader Joe's to expand in & near Cener City.

Didn't Trader Joe's announce a new store near 4th and South on Bambridge?

Also the new Mom's market on 11th St is nice. Much bigger than I was expecting.
