I'm moving back to Philadelphia to start a job in the University City area. I'd like to rent for a bit before buying, and I'm looking for a 2BR apartment/condo/home, with the caveat that I need covered parking (preferably a garage) for a toy.
What would the most convenient place be for us to look for housing? I'd be fine commuting via public transportation, walking, or driving. I'd like to keep the budget around 3000 if possible.

You can get a VERY nice place in Ardmore, Wayne, etc. for 3k without having to worry about parking. Septa is awesome, and the commute to the city is painless. Lots of shopping/nightlife, and you definitely get the suburb space you need... if that's what you're looking for.
