PAFA is definitely worthwhile (and smaller so more manageable)..... National Museum of America Jewish History is also most definitely worth a visit.
have not been to Mutter so I guess that will certainly be on the agenda coming up.
I appreciate all the opinions here.
I guess the bottom line is there are some awesome offerings

(never heard of Pizza brain... going to look into that one too)
The Mutter Museum is definitely worth a visit! The Pizza Brain museum is not impressive, it's really just a lot of decorations in a pizza shop. It's a strange place with good pizza.

Something a little bit different and not actually a museum, but the City Tavern can make for an interest expirence. It's like dining in the 18th century. Or you could go to the Olde Bar in the Bookbinder's building and taste a Philadelphian classic, Snapper Soup. I like these places because you get to feel and taste a little bit of history.

The colonial stuff in old city is a must imo.

Also it is worth taking the free general tour at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It's a great quick overview of a lot of the important pieces and the curators have fun stories about how us Americans pillaged the rest of the world for their treasures.

If you like Egyptian stuff, Penn's museum is the spot.

If you have children, the Franklin institute is a must. If they are still toddlers, the please touch museum might be a better choice.

Mutter. Not sure how people eat at the food court nearby. Perhaps before they go in. Haha.

Haha, right? It would be great if they had a "squirm" ticker to show how much squirming happens each day by visitor. The first time I went, I came out wondering what I just saw and what to think.

Philadelphia Museum of Art. Not a museum, but Eastern State Penitentiary is interesting.

Nothing beats Franklin Institute!
When my dad comes to visit me, he always insists going there!

Not a favorite but one I want to check out: I've lived in the area most of my adult life and the existence of the American Swedish Museum was news to me when the Inky had an article on it recently.

I didn't know Pizza Brain had a museum and I had seen it before, but they have good (pricy) pizza.

Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute and the Penn Museum.

I also always like the Academy of Natural Sciences and my Mom's name for it: "The Dead Zoo".
