Hi, I have a budget of around $2,200 a month for total cost of living which I am willing to spend up to 1k of that on a place to stay. I am looking for an apartment in a quiet, safe neighborhood free of frat parties. I will be transferring to TU as a Junior and I would just like to enjoy my time quietly and finish out my degree. I'm looking for a either a one bedroom apartment with bath or a one room with a private bath in a nice home. I am willing to commute up to one hour away by public transportation.

Thank you for any advice and tips, much appreciated.

Consider Clark Park area, or maybe just north of Chinatown with a roommate(s).

You could look in the northwest part of the city, in Mt Airy and Germantown. Both have two regional rail lines going to Temple (the Chestnut Hill East line being a quicker ride to Temple than Chestnut Hill West).

East Falls/Manayunk is another possibility. Like the above, they have good rail access to Temple.

I would live next to temple if i were you. University Village, the View at Montgomery, Or Kardon/Atlantic are popular spots adjacent to campus. Most of the "partying" is on the other side of broad street.

Any place in Mt Airy, Roxbourough and even the suburbs like Glenside, is good. Since Philly is a college town, you will see lots of students. I would say stay around these areas cause it is generally quieter. These neighbhorhoods is more for working class people and families. It is diverse, with blue collar and white collar people.

Germantown has good parts and rundown parts but overall a better area to live then around Temple University. You have some pockets of craziness but East Falls is more desirable location in Germantown.

Charter Court Apartments

Park Height Apartments

Copley Manor

Chestnut Hill is a great area but expensive, apartments under 1k is rare unless you decide to get a studio apartment.

Chestnut Hill Towers (Studio Apartment)

Northeast Philly is an ideal area (Fox Chase is the quietest area)

Rushwood Apartments
Winchester Walks
Sherwood Crossing Apartments
Brookmont Apartment Homes
Evergreen Manor
The Towers
Ashley Court Apartments
Canterbury Court

Apartments in Roxbourough and Mt Airy

Walnut Court Apartments

Pelham Court Apartments (Older Apartments)

Greene Manor Apartments

Upsal Gardens (Older Apartments)

Mt. Pleasant Arms

Lennox Apartments.

Glenside is in the suburbs of Philly, good area but a distance from Temple University unless you are in the Ambler campus

Mt Vernon Apartments
Rosemore Gardens
Wyncote House

Good luck and I hope this helps.
