Hi,
I would like to know what is the difference between the total property tax for a similar house in south east PA vs DE. Say, the house is $500K, so how much will I end up paying in the property taxes.

From Wikipedia: "Delaware does not assess a state-level tax on real or personal property. Real estate is subject to county property taxes, school district property taxes, vocational school district taxes, and, if located within an incorporated area, municipal property taxes."

Also found this: https://smartasset.com/taxes/delawar...tax-calculator

Given the above, I would think DE has much lower property taxes compared to PA. It sounds like it depends on the local taxes assessed at the county and municipality level but an average rate of 0.51% is very low.

Listings on realtor.com include property tax info. Do a search with the same price specs in both states. That will give you a general idea of the property tax differences.

Also, SE Pennsylvania really varies depending on where you are talking about. Philly has much lower property taxes than some of its northern suburbs (e.g. Cheltenham). On a half million dollar house, you might pay $15,000/year in property tax in, for instance, Cheltenham while you'd pay maybe $5000 for that same house in Philadelphia.

PA taxes are also local based. City, County, Township, school district. YMMV. Zillow is a good place to do research
