I just found out that Jane Norman, who played "Pixanne" on WCAU, Channel 10, in Philly from 1960 to 1969 passed away last month. So sad. We lost Sally Starr just a few years ago.

Gene London, Wee Willie Weber, and Captain Noah are still with us, as far as I know.

We all tuned in to watch her in the Enchanted Forest every morning...

Rest in peace, Pixanne.

Captain Noah passed away last summer too. Old tv fascinates me because of how localized it was.

Boomers made most of those old local tv personalities. It was huge part of our childhoods.

Sally Star(Popeye Theater), Chief Halftown and Uncle Pete Boyle(where I first saw the Our Gang/Little Rascals comedies) were my favorites.

Hard to believe in this day and age, but we kids worshipped them. I remember playing outside with the neighborhood friends, and someone's mother would come out and yell, "It's FOUR O'CLOCK!!" Time to come in for Sally Starr and Popeye Theater. I have a co-worker who is the spit and image of Sally Starr in her 40's, and I always called her jokingly "my gal Sal". After explaining what I meant by that, she was very flattered. As she should be...being told you looked like Sally Starr was the greatest compliment anyone could give you.

There were extemsive woods in those days, all around our housing development. I remember searching in the forest around our house for Pixanne amd Oggie the Owl.

So sad to hear about Captain Noah. He was somewhat after my era, but my kid brothers watched him.
