Last week's murder of Khaleaf Sistrunk provides an opportunity for justice system authorities to strike a significant blow against the badness in the city that causes the level of of crime in Philly to be too high and undermines its reputation as a good city! The "Khaleaf" murder involved the shooting of a twenty-one year young man yards away from the Clothespin, the outdoor sculpture located at 1500 Market street, because he cooperated with the police in providing information about the murder of his older brother and he testified in court, providing eyewitness evidence, against the murderer of his close friend who was shot while they were together on South street in 2018. Those that operate "outside the law" labeled Khaleaf a snitch and targeted him for death for doing so; they tried once before to kill him, shooting at him while he was working as a FedEX delivery person in October although they missed him they significantly hurt one of Khaleaf's colleagues. This incident rises to super importance because it is emblematic of a problem in the City witnesses to crimes don't come forward and cooperate with police to bring the perpetrator to justice for fear of being labeled as a snitch and targeted for retaliation. Just an aside note those that label people like Khaleaf as snitches have a warped, illegitimate definition of a snitch; a snitch is someone who reports to the police criminal wrongdoing and has no obligation to do so, he or she is not a victim of the criminal activity or an independent witness of the criminal activity. If people involved in criminal activity are dumb enough to commit that activity in front of independent eyewitnesses that is on them, those independent witnesses that do their civic duty are not snitches they have no obligation to violate the law for the criminal wrongdoers!

This incident provides an opportunity for justice system authorities to create a great deterrent against this type of witness intimidation by providing a high profile example of of authorities catching these bad actors and really punishing them. This case is really a high profile case this shooting took place across from City Hall and in the center of the office high rise building district of Center City, if that location isn't safe no place in Philadelphia is safe, plus this incident wasn't just a shooting this was an assassination there was two shooters that walked up to Khaleaf and fired eleven rounds into him, furthermore, the arrogance of these perpetrators and the people behind them there is cops all over that location of the Clothespin, Septa cops and Philly cops, them doing this is saying we have no respect for the Philadelphia Police you cops cannot stop us and those entrusted with guarding the Philly cops reputation and well-being should not let that stand!

Law Enforcement authorities have options here! First, offer a financial reward for evidence leading to the apprehension and successful prosecution of the perpetrators. Secondly, announce and actually implement that this investigation will hold the highest priority status. A good investigation should lead to productive results. At the shooting location there should multiple cameras that provide informative video. Secondly, you know the class of suspects, the gang associated with the perpetrator of the South street shooting where Khaleaf testified as an eyewitness people connected with this gang have the motive to do the shooting because they labeled Khaleaf as a snitch. Further, Khaleaf had told only certain people he was going to the clothespin one of these was either a witting or unwitting helper to the perpetrators find out who these people passed on that information to. Also, many of the individuals that had a connection with this whole incident were either members of the 5th street gang or the 13th street gang so they probably have criminal records it is very possible that some will be on probation and/or parole, law enforcement could use the leverage of aggressive oversight and where clear transgression is uncovered violation those individuals for their probation/parole case to gain these individuals cooperation! In this case authorities should not stop with the shooters they should aggressively pursue prosecution of the person(s) that directed the shooters if there was such because that is the only way that this witness intimidation is going to be stopped in the City. Good Philadelphians want to see an end to the culture where witnesses of crime in Philly stay silent for fear of retribution over cooperating with the police, this incident could really be "teed up" to make a significant difference in changing that culture!

I share your sentiments but doubt that this is something that worries our current District Attorney overmuch.
