I saw that a building taller than the new comcast building is planned for University City? I really think the city's tallest building should be in Center City. East of Broad ST looks like its friken 1932! They should build some tall buildings over there.

30th Street Station sits atop the center of the regional and intercity rail transport system, not to mention next to the junction of the principal freeway leading into the city from the west and a crosstown connector to the main north-south route.

In other words, it has unrivaled accessibility. And it has lots of buildable land. Putting a high-rise office cluster there is really a no-brainer. The city's office core has expanded steadily westward from its old South Broad Street base towards the Schuylkill ever since the "Chinese Wall" feeding Broad Street Station came down along with the station itself.

Market Street east of City Hall was one of the city's two principal shopping streets, Chestnut being the other.

Is there a building taller than Comcast 2 in that plan?

I don't want too many tall buildings east of Broad; right now, it's more like east of 11th Street. Old City/Independence Mall do not need skyscrapers. It's an old and historic district that should stay that way as much as possible.

The commercial district is moving toward and centering around the Schuykill; for example, Aramark recently relocated to the Schuykill. 30th Street Station is a centerpiece and talk of a 22/Market new subway station is out there. The parking lots around 21-22 Streets & Market are prime for commercial development as well.

It's not like the planned building you mentioned is deep in University City and the development is called Schuykill Yards, adjacent to 30th Street Station. You see the new buildings that have been built already, especially the FMC Tower.

If it's the same plan from 2-3 years ago there are two pretty tall thin towers one, of which, looks like it could be as tall as one of the Comcast towers.

There were some details today about Brandywines plans for 2 towers this year, neither as tall as Comcast, but it seems the office tower will be 500'.

Who are you and where are you that you are ignorant enough that you don't know that one of the most important skyscrapers in the world is east of Broad St ? lol

I'm more than thrilled that this will happen. I'm still a little nervous about this new set of Trump tariffs. I have not seen the product list yet.

The good news is that Schuylkill Yards is also geographically within a federal Opportunity Zone, probably the only good thing to come out of this administration. I can see a lot of investment to bolster the project.
