I adore Chester County, it is so pretty

This made me laugh. If we're dead we won't cost the city anything. Can't see why we would have to keep renewing the card.

I have a friend who's on long-term Social Security disability and thus is eligible for the reduced fare.

He went down to get his card in mid-September and got it in October.

My guess is that there was a huge crush of requests in the first months after the cards were introduced (and July 2016 would be early in the process), and that it's been cleared now.

Unless they process disabled Key ID cards in a different stream from senior cards. There was usually a four-week turnaround for the disabled reduced fare ID cards, which the Key ID cards have also replaced.

Disabled riders need to renew their ID cards annually.

Understood. Baby steps introducing a new process/tool. Seems like an additional hardship for disabled folks, though. Maybe eventually they could produce short term disabled vs long term disabled cards, like they do for handicapped parking permits. I got a SEPTA card when I was there in November, registered it online and will keep it loaded until I have a chance to apply for the senior card.

The suggestions on this thread are awesome btw. Can't wait to get there!

True dat.. But, it's just the hassle of renewing it when that was not necessary before.

Excellent. I'm glad it's faster now.

No, I don't think there was a crush in the beginning because very few seniors knew they needed to switch at the time I applied. It was probably more about bugs and delays wrt implementing the cards which are not regular key cards as you know.
