Relocating to Philly in a month and I'm thinking about moving to 2206 Front Street. Is this neighborhood safe? I've visited and while the area isn't the prettiest, i never felt threatened. I grew up in SE DC, i can handle a little grit and i'm street savvy. I just want to make sure I'm not walking into a war zone.. Any help would be appreciated!

That part of Kensington is experiencing a lot of gentrification and investment--it's pretty close to Fishtown. I would say it is pretty safe, as long as you have your wits/street smarts about you.

No worries. You're a DC gal. LOL, I love Philly but it's a weird place imo for one thing. You can live in a really nice area and literally go two blocks down and the entire vibe of the neighborhood changes.

Just remember, like DC Philly is a big city. Booboo the bad guy now travels and a lot of crime is a crime of "opportunity". they see an opportunity they take it.

My big word of caution because I see this every freaking day. If you are walking, for the love of God take the ear buds out and pay attention.

I can't understand it, 9 pm at night leaving a restaurant and walking in the city and all you see is people in their own little world, not paying attention with ear buds that prevents them from hearing.

That's not Kensington, that's Stonewall Heights. LOL.

So true about people walking around, day and night, with ear-buds. They cut themselves off completely from their surroundings.

If the OP is truly a city-street smart gal, then she would know not to do this.
