Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival

I saw the lights coming over the Ben Franklin last night. looked interesting. It's pricey for just walking around though ($20 bucks I think).

I did last year and it was pretty cool! My wife and I walked through it and got to see a traditional Chinese dance show there as a bonus. Lots of kids and families there. Go to the bathroom beforehand; the line can be long. Also, buy your tickets online beforehand.

It's expensive, but definitely worth it! It really is a cool thing to see at night when it is all lit up. I brought my parents last year when they were visiting and they absolutely loved it. Hit up one of the Chinatown restuarants afterward for a late dinner (Shanghai 1 is my favorite).

We went last year for the first time and enjoyed it. I would highly suggest buying tickets online because the ticket line was VERY long when we went. There is also a live dance show that was interesting to watch but is standing room only (unless you haul some folding chairs or a blanket, but who wants to do that?) and sometimes hard to see with tons of heads in the way. Get to the show area before it begins for front and center "real estate" (ground). The colors and designs of the Chinese lanterns are gorgeous and the creativity is amazing. Personally, I don't think it was worth $20; maybe $12-$15, especially since the area isn't terribly large.
