I was on vacation last week checking out cities I'd consider relocating to after I graduate from college this May and I just have to say that you have a special city going for you.
Being from the LA area, Philadelphia has a negative connotation that it doesn't deserve.
People are thought to be cold and mean but I found that Philadelphians were some of the nicest people for a big city that I've ever met.
The city is so raw, it is what it is and doesn't try to hide it.
You got passionate sports fans (coming to see a Dodgers vs Phillies game this August!) and beautiful facilities.
The location is amazing, hour and fifteen minute train ride to NYC.
It's easily walkable and the public transportation was real solid.

Basically I'm just letting you guys know that your city is a real gem and take pride in being a Philadelphian. Don't let the pessimists and negative stereotypes bring you down because its unfounded.

Keep it up Philly!

That's pretty much the same reason why I'm moving to Philly in '09. I like the people, I like cheesesteaks, it's only a 5 hour drive back home to "West By God", and it's in the middle of everything.

Phillly location is absolutely second to non. I loved being so close to NY, DC and Baltimore (visiting relatives). Also being so close to the shore was a good thing during those hot summers. I really did have the best of both worlds there. No plans to move back but I miss it.

Going to Phillies games wearing opposing team apparel (unless maybe if it's the Mets) is a different ball of wax than going to Eagles games wearing opposing team apparel. Somebody wearing Dodgers stuff at a game in Philadelphia shouldn't have a problem.

haha thanks for the advice
I figured if I was able to wear Dodgers gear to Giants games up in SF (our rivals) I'd be fine in philly but I guess the east coast is a whole different animal, a lot more intense.

What about at Flyers games, would I be alright wearing an opposing teams uniforms (the LA Kings, the laughing stock of the NHL) there

Don't even think about wearing anything that doesn't represent Philly to a Philly game, you're asking for it otherwise. East coast isn't intense, PHILLY is intense.

Eh, I dunno. From what I've seen, Philly is no worse than any other passionate East Coast fanbase.

I went to a Phillies game with a Pirates jersey/hat on last July and nothing happened to me. At all. Not even a "Boo, you suck!" Of course the Pirates are terrible, so maybe they pitied me. But if I can waltz in there with the colors of a cross state team, I can't buy Philly being that vicious.

I don't recall having a hard time at various Temple football games wearing WVU gear back in the 90s, either. Never had a problem at Villanova basketball games this decade, either.

Now if you try to go to a WVU football game in Morgantown with another team's colors, you straight up get abused. You'll read the college police blotter the next day and read about kids that assaulted some poor Pitt or Maryland fan for talking back to them. Of course, these are the people that once got WVU sued by the University of Miami for hitting a UM assistant coach with a trash can launched from the upper deck. Virginia Tech won't even play in Morgantown anymore because of how their fans were treated back in '05. And that's on record out of their head coach's mouth.

Same with trying to go to a Rutgers game in a WVU jersey, too. Those kids threw a wall of beer cans at me and called me every curse word that exists. The stadium security staff laughing at me the whole time. Of course, these are people from Jersey....you know.

At Louisville in '06, I walked by the student section and had a wine cooler thrown at me. Completely filled. Whoever the hell it threw it was apparently too drunk to hit me.
