That seems to be all I see on these posts, which gets me a little concerned. We will be moving out to Philadelphia in the near future and we're hoping not to get shot. We're from San Antonio and crime here is bad, but if you live in an okay neighborhood, you'd never know. Generally speaking how much would we have to pay for a house to not worry about crime or violence? I was thinking that a 200,000 house would get us out of harms way, but these threads have made me think otherwise. Any opinions?

Vast majority of the crime that happens in Philadelphia are in very well defined sections of the city.North and Southwest Philly,Camden, Chester. The vast majority of the suburbs are extremely safe.

Out of the metro of 6 million I'd say 5.5 million live virtually free of the threat of crime. Out of the suburban population the percentage is probably closer to 98%.

You can find a nice older single house in a great middle class town for $200,000 out in the suburbs. I wouldn't be too concerned about crime. You pretty much have to go looking for crime.

Instead of re-opening a very old thread, it would have been preferable to add to the "Official Philadelphia Crime Thread".
