My parents and older brother were living in Drexelbrook Apartments in Drexel Hill, PA when I was born. The great event took place at Haverford Hospital in Havertown, PA in November 1960, two days after JFK was elected President. I have been trying to research Havertown and Haverford Hospital today and there is no sign of it existing, today or ever. There are references to a Haverford State Hospital, what used to be called an insane asylum but none where babies were born to very sane mothers. Can anyone dispell the mystery and tell me where Haverford Hospital, Havertown, PA was and what happened to it?

Haverford Hospital on W. Chester Pike, just east of Lawrence Rd( and today's I-476), has been gone for a while.
I'm not sure how long it's been gone. It was definitely there in the 90s though.

And Haverford State Hospital was torn down about the time that de-institutilization of mental hospitals was going on. 80s maybe.

I believe Haverford Hospital was independent for a long time. Once it started struggling a bit, it became part of the Mercy Health System and was renamed Mercy Haverford Hospital. Not sure exactly when it closed and I can't seem to find any info on it, but I do remember going to the ER there a long time ago.

Haverford State Hospital officially closed in 1998 but wasn't torn down until the middle of 2007. The land is now home to the Haverford CREC, the Community Recreation and Environmental Center, the Haverford Township dog park, Freedom Playground, and Haverford Reserve (apartments and insanely expensive McMansions).

Default Haverford Hospital, Havertown

I worked at Haverford Hospital in the late 70's. It was managed by Hospital Affiliates and later changed its name to Haverford Community Hospital. When when Hospital Affiliates was absorbed into another hospital management company (HCA), they divested Haverford Community Hospital. It later became part of the Mercy Hospital System and is now part of the Kindred Company as a rehab hospital. (https://fusion.realtourvision.com/30172)

It was located at 2000 Old West Chester Pike right next to The Saw Mill Inn which is also long gone.
