Buses might be late, kids still missed them, so parents drove them them to school. There always seemed to be more parents on the road when conditions were terrible. Maybe they wanted to be sure that their kid got there safely in their AWD.

Traffic wasn't too bad on nice days, though you might have to stop and wait while twenty buses left the school parking lot. There were crossing guards at intersections near the school. It really wasn't bad most of the time.
Doesn't sound so bad, that's encouraging. Thanks!!

You can also drive a few miles out of your way and avoid the school. That often saves time.

Also, it's obvious, but don't forget: one can live near enough a school for kids to walk and for it to be a draw...withOUT living on the school bus route, OR the streets that others would take to get to the school, or the streets that clog up with high schoolers who drive and park on your street or parents waiting in cars for kids to get picked up.

Living near a school is all about being strategic (picky/particular (pick your word)) -- about the street you're on.

My kids went to Conestoga and the traffic only really gets bad around there during the 30 minutes around the start of school and the 30 minutes when school get out. And even then it is just the intersection near the stadium. There are a few places in T-E that can get backed up at certain times of the day (Old Eagle School Rd in the evenings and Rt. 30 in Stratford), but you learn how to get around those spots. Traffic is not one of the common complaints I hear about living in T-E.

Thanks guys! The house we're looking at is near that stadium intersection, but good to know that it's really more like 30min before and after the school start/close times, and that T-E traffic isn't a big issue. really appreciate the input.
