I found some threads dating back to 2007, 2008, and 2009 that discussed Schnabel's Woods. Can anyone provide more recent information about this community? I understand that it is a vacation community with 200 cottages that can be used up to 180 days out of the year (not as a primary residence). Owners own the cottage, but not the land. There are no property taxes, but there is an annual fee for the use of the property.

I visited on a weekday during the offseason, so it was hard to get a sense of what it might be like during the summer when there are more people around. Does it get crowded/noisy? Are the cottage owners mostly older folks, or families with young children, or a mix of both? Are most of the cottages still in use? It seems like it was probably a very vibrant place years ago, but that it's been winding down for some time. Some cottages are obviously in much better condition than others and some that I looked at were really nice. Many are closer together than I think I would like. I'm sure there are plenty of cottages available there and buying would be easy, but selling later on... not so much! I'm kind of interested/intrigued, though, and would love to hear opinions from anyone who has had experience with the place. Feel free to post publicly or direct message me if you have any thoughts about it.

I went up there recently to see 5 cabins that were for sale. Very nice guy showed us the cabins but in detailed questions he struggled to answer. I think getting a real estate attorney involved with any purchase here would be wise to review the land use contract and what happens upon the property ever selling

I’m about to put mine up for sale have and loved it. But my husband died and it’s time to move on. My location is very private. Email me at bonnie@historyshopping.com and I can send photos. I want to close on October 1.
I can also send detail on all upgrades and new stuff (windows). You won’t need to put any $ into it for upgrading.
