Yeah, it's only one game. But it was the home opener, so there was all kinds of fanfare. Lights! Flames! Techno music! And then they skate onto the ice and give up two goals in the first three minutes. Way to deflate the balloon. We left after the second period, when it was 5-1. Our Uber driver had the game on during our ride home, and when we heard the final score (8-2 for those who don't know), we were blown away. I'm willing to bet that there were only about 50 people, if that, left in the seats when the last buzzer went off.

Give up 8 last night, score 7 tonight, and all is good again. LOL. Looks like it's going to be a roller coaster season...

They don't have a lock down goal tender, and trust me, scoring will be a problem. Not a good combo.

As I've said a thousand times on this board the primary cause of Negadelphia-ism is rooted in losing teams. Seasons and seasons of losing. Transplants, even long term ones, can not understand the psychology behind it.

It's not really even "losing", it's "losing the big one". It's decades of teams (esp. Eagles & Flyers) with winning records, even elite records, who never win the Cup or the Super Bowl (until last year obviously). The Phillies in the 70s, the Buddy Ryan Eagles, the Poulin/Kerr/Propp Flyers of the 80s, the Iverson Sixers & Lindros Flyers of the 90s, and the Reid Eagles in the 2000's. They were all great teams that never won a championship, and it made people jaded and frustrated over the decades. Even the Howard/Utley/Rollins Philles and the Doctor J Sixers that won once were supposed dynasties.

This is really what I mean in spades.

Being as old as I am I sort of trace some city negativity to the absolutely terrible ending of the '64 Phillies. Anyone who remembers it knows how awful that was. It basically caused a kind of city-wide depression. That sounds too dramatic but it was horrible. And to add insult to injury 1964 was the same year that American Bandstand, left Philadelphia for LA.

Yes. Looks that way. In the end, I hope it is not a repeat of some past years

Pisses me off to no end. Holmgren can fire as many GMs and coaches as he wants, but the real problem....is HIM!! Until Holmgren goes, I don't see much changing for this team.

Well, I am NOT a fan of this coach. I was surprised to see him NOT fired, and the GM fired.

But, the coach's days are numbered, I think... He will be fired soon
