Understood. It’s just unfortunate that’s been your experience.

Hi everyone! I actually have a dining question myself!

I am bringing my boyfriend to Philadelphia this weekend (his first time!) And Friday night I am drawing a blank for restaurant suggestions.

I was trying to think of something not smack in the middle of CC, since we are staying at the Ritz and will spend a lot of time in that general area.

Anyone have any good suggestions in Old City, Fairmount, Fitler, Queen Village areas? Something cute and yummy - Italian or American fare (no crazy cuisine and with a Little Nonnas type vibe).

I don't want to go to far out (NoLibs, etc) because I want to walk back to hotel after dinner.

I came up with La Peg so far...

And also good cheese steaks in CC?

Trattoria Carina is a relatively new classy Italian place with a relaxed vibe at 22nd and Spruce. It reminds me of Little Nonna's.

If you want the classic experience of walking up to a window and getting a whiz wit, Steve's. I would say go to Cleaver's though. I think it's a better overall experience.

For food, I'd recommend Second Story Brewing at 2nd & Chestnut (there are actually a lot of good places right there - Plough & Stars, Amada, Kabul, Lucha Cartel, etc) or Zahav or Positano a block or two away.

Old City - Zahav is a no brainer. At 2nd and Market, Fork is really good.

QV - Hungry Pigeon (link) was really good. My wife and I went there for our anniversary a couple months ago and went with the "Let us cook for you" which was a surprise at every course.

Why not go to East Passyunk? Or, and dammit I'm blanking on its name, the place on SE corner of 15th and Locust. It's Italian. I had really good pizza in there. Yeah it's in CC tho.

Try Steve Prince of Steaks across from Liberty Place One on 16th St.

There are showers in the forcast for Friday.

Re: Fairmount check out eateries west of 20th St on Fairmount Ave. Terror Beyond the Walls, at ESP, is still going on so you might be interested in that. Funnily I will be in NYC on Friday/ Sat.

If your bf likes Pho, or might want to try it, there's a pretty good place in the 1900 block of Fairmount. Tela's Market, High Point and OCF, all on Fairmount, are more breakfast/ brunch/early evening so those may not work.

Thank you all for the ideas. I'll keep them in mind for the future. My "friend" canceled on me, and I'm upset about it. This will pass soon and I will find other things to do.

I would have recommended the Sakura on Race St but they're apparently closed. We traveled in 14 states last year and Philly had the best food.
