Am I wrong to be disappointed by the building of new lines out to sprawlville getting the limited capital over improvement and expansion of city transit?

The extension of the NHSL to KoP has been needed and proposed for a very long time though.

it would have been better to extend the Norristown line with better headways IMHO, a single seat ride

King of Prussia is one of the largest economic engines in the entire state, and a rail link to and from Philadelphia has long been needed. Not exactly a waste of money, and probably the most beneficial transit improvement that could happen for the region. Though I do wish the new line had a stop at the new and growing Village at Valley Forge. I believe the line bypasses that development by a bit.

The wawa extension is the first step in the eventual goal of (again) reaching West Chester. Again, direct connections from West Chester to Philadelphia is a huge benefit for the entire region.

I know Septa is eyeing a BSL extension, which would be an above ground rail link to the Navy Yard which is much needed. Beyond that I would like to see the renovation and re-opening of the 30th St concourse and the re-opening of an MFL stop at 22nd Street. But I find all of those (minus BSL extension) to be of less priority than investing in connecting the overall region.

This. The idea of taking multiple transfers over such a long distance is an ok option. Is it better than what we have now? Sure. Is it the right answer? Not really.

I know a real connection is needed. Although, I'd rather have all the RR platforms raised than having this far flung solution...

KOP Extension makes so much sense. It is definitely one of the biggest employment areas of the region. The current 123-124-125 bus connections go through so much hassle just go get there. I think those lines particularly the 124 and 125 maybe be at constant crunch loads. KOP, and Wawa Extension are on the horizon...very exciting.

I'd still love to see a expansion either to Phoenixville or Bethlehem or Quakertown, though Beth and Quakertown maybe more doable in the future.

The NHSL and EL provide service that is just as quick (and if you consider the shorter headways, in reality MUCH quicker) as the Regional Rail at a fraction of the cost to the rider, stopping at way more stops (thereby serving more of the region), without requiring you to come all the way downtown first (where the majority of mall workers do not live).

It's the better option in my mind.

How easy will it for workers to get to their jobs throughout the KOP area? Being someone who's commuted on PT in multiple metros in both the city and the burbs, I know that it can be very difficult to get to jobs that are located even just a 1/2 mile down the road from the station. I'm assuming the mall will be easy, but KOP has jobs scattered, does it not?

IMO the $1.2 billion would have been better spent on replacing funds from a reduction in the wage tax. In the bigger, longer-term picture, a lower wage tax or elimination of it would go a long way towards reclaiming those jobs in the suburbs back to Philly. KOP is a major employment center *now*, but malls come and go. The $1.2 billion could have spurred a lot of job creation for the city for generations to come.
