Hello folks,

Arriving in Philly around last week of Feb for a small convention. The company has booked a hotel in the historic district. Just realized that the parking at the hotel is not free. It is going to cost me $140 for 3 days (weekdays, of course) of parking.

I wouldn't really mind parking the car away from the hotel if it is safe and the cost is reasonable. I am going to be in the convention for all 3 days, not going to have time to use the car.

Do any locals have a recommendation?

Thanks in advance.

I swear by parkwhiz.com when it comes to finding parking. I've used the app not just in Philly but other cities too. I have the app but I find their website easier to use.

Try the map feature: https://www.bestparking.com/philadelphia-pa-parking/. Hotels always add a hefty surcharge.

I second that parkwhiz.com is the way to go

But if you are flying in, and are only using the car for airport transportation, it would probably be cheaper to just Uber or Taxi each way (especially after rental car charges are considered). Philly's airport is much more conveniently located than most cities.

I second Patmcpsu that if its only transit to and from the airport except public transit would be my choice to go to

Parkade on 8th (8th & Filbert), looks like 24 hr rate is $23. I parked here weekly for over 20 years without a problem. It does fill up by 10a most days.

Are you open to taking our public transportation system, SEPTA? You could easily park your car at Fern Rock TC, along with any of the suburban Regional Rail lots, for a very nominal $1-$2/day! The Convention Center is very transit-accessible, so you wouldn't have a problem heading back out to retrieve your car.

If I have to drive in and pay at a cash lot, I use the lot at Front & Chestnut. That lot is $11 early bird (out by 6), but I'd guess it's probably $18-$20 per day if you leave it 24 hours. I'd try to call them if you can. Front & Chestnut is about 3 blocks from the Sheraton Society Hill and 7 blocks from the Independence Hall/Liberty Bell.

I see no reason for you to rent a car, unless you're trying to get the frequent renter points.

If you're not adventurous, take a taxi or Uber.

If you're adventurous, take the septa train from airport to 30th St station, then switch to the market Frankford line headed downtown.
