New Target at 5th and Spring Garden St area (Philadelphia: neighborhood, YMCA)

I usually shop at two particular Targets for their Market Pantry chicken wings (I make some MEAN wings):

Abington (it's a few minutes up the street from the Abington YMCA)

Roxborough, Ivy Ridge Center (across the street from the Roxy YMCA)


I have yet to visit the new 5th/Spring Garden St. Target. I heard it's the largest Target in Philly.

How is the produce section? How about the meat section? Do they have a great selection of boxed teas? (I love Stash and Yogi.)

Not sure where you heard that but its not true - it's a smaller format store, half way between the the type that are downtown and a full blown store like the one in South Philadelphia or Port Richmond.

Guessing you are unfamiliar with the urban target format.

Target has been infiltrating urban markets (Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, etc.) with smaller footprint stores that focus on a small curated selection of goods for people in that neighborhood. Goods are mostly food related, small electronics, some clothing and home, and cosmetics.

That being said, the new Target at 5th and Spring Garden is one of the larger small format stores.

The new store in Devon is also a hybrid between a full Target and urban Target.

This is the largest 'urban format' store in the city. And apparently also adopts their latest floorplan nationwide.

I am eager to check it out, but never in that area, as I live by the Art Museum Target, which is also nicely sized for being urban format.
I think that store really should be the smallest they go.

The City Ave. Target is the largest within city limits.


The 12th and 19th st. stores are little baby target's, and just too small to be good. Its like they are trying to be everything, but at that size format you have to really focus on offerings.

You're kidding, right? There's a ANOTHER Target in that area? There's already a Target at 12th and Chestnut! And one at 19th and Chestnut, 20th and Callowhill, etc.

What's going on? Does Mayor Kenney have stock in this company?
