Utley is not going to wear a uniform again, except for spring training coaching for the Dodgers. Bowa is too short-tempered to manage, especially in today's world.

I'm just advocating for this year's Phillies doing what the '83 Phillies and the '03 Marlins did by bringing Manuel back the dugout for the remainder of the season in an effort to make the postseason. Manuel is very similar to Paul Owens and Jack McKeon and would let players just relax and play once the game starts. I know Charlie is not a long-term solution. Third base coach Dusty Wathan came up through the minors with Hoskins, Kingery, et al. They came up together, won together, and are already familiar with one another. The Phils just need a more personable leader.

I'll holding my opinions on Klentak until August 1st...

Bowa had a chance to manage but I remember him having a bunch of tantrums and meltdowns.
I have never heard Utley talk about becoming a manager, I just think he would do well at it. Yeah, Bowa probably can't deal with today's players.

Isn't Utley universally known to be a very strange dude? I can't remember exactly, but I thought he was a weirdo that and his teammates were a bit put off by his personality (not his commitment or play obviously).

I never heard that, but it may be true. I don't know. He did have a great work ethic, and career, so I think the players would respect that, but can he lead, instruct, and motivate? Who knows?

Utley is well liked and respected everywhere except NY. What you may be referring to is he is known as a "tree hugger". He is big on environmental issues, climate change and animal rights.

As far as a future manager, one of the best candidates sitting out there waiting for a job is Joe Girardi. Hard to predict which direction the Phils could go. One name I hear from insiders is Matt Stairs. Personally with the team they currently field I would like one who has experience as a ML Manager.

Anyone else notice that once Andrew Mc's season was over things started to go south?

Definitely. He's a true team leader.

The pitching woes would have inevitably caught up to the Phils even with a healthy McCutchen.

The season is over. And all that money thrown away on Harper.
