I may be relocating to Philly from DC over the next month and I don't know anything about the city. I'd be working on Walnut Street in West Philly and my research shows Old City, Center City, and Fishtown being good choices. I love dining out, walking around the city, etc. I'm not concerned about cost. Any recommendations for good places to live?

Center City but in your case, I highly recommend Rittenhouse Square.

I ditto Rittenhouse Square. Old City is more yuppie, but if that's more your style, opt for Society Hill.

If you don't care about costs focus on Center City. Center City consists of these neighborhoods: Rittenhouse, Washington Sq West(some of which is around Jefferson U.) , Old City(it's part of Center City) , Society Hill, Logan Sq, Chinatown and Fitler Sq.

Adjacent CC neighborhoods: Fishtown, Graduate Hospital, Fairmount/Spring Garden.

Or look in W. Phila./University City: Powelton Village, Spruce Hill, Clark Park or Cedar Park.

Trolls are so funny. Dude, people die all the time, literally, at any time often when they least expect it.

Old City. For sure. Yes we are more historic than Georgetown.

so Old City or Rittenhouse? I was surprised to see Rittenhouse rivals downtown DC for rents. Wasn't expecting that.

Either. But definitely check them out before selecting. They have different vibes.

I'd add Washington Square West is fantastic too. And a bit different vibe than the other two.

I'd also factor in commute times. If you live in Old City you'll probably need to take the El across town and then walk down to Walnut street. If your office is pretty far east you could walk it from Rittenhouse or take one of several bus options that head West along Walnut.
