Hi everyone,

I’m in my 20s and I live in MD near DC. Because of connections I have in the Philly area, I want to get a place up there and live there half the week. I have worked as a server before, and wanted to see if anyone might have thoughts on good places to be a waitress. It’s tricky because I am not ready to give up on certain aspects of my life in MD, (a lot of driving) but for employment I want to focus on PA and kind of try to gradually transition to the area. I’ll be around Delaware County a lot but I am not that familiar with the area or Philly in general. I’ll be looking for rooms. If anyone can offer suggestions on the restaurants in the city or food places to look outside of the city, or anything in general, I’d be appreciative! Thank you.

I'll PM you a few places that are/were looking.

In terms of living, maybe start with Delaware county because it will be cheaper than the city proper. What's your budget?

Hi - thank you! I am sorry I missed your response - would love to see your thoughts. I am really looking for a room for rent for $500 or so- I actually started looking in Philly because the rooms are cheaper. But I would much rather live in Delco! And I will fill out the sticky

If females have to avoid it then it's probably best everyone avoid it.

If you're finding rooms cheaper in Philly, the neighborhood might not be as nice. It also depends on if you're looking for roommates or not, if you feel you'd need a car in delco, but not Philly, and some luck. I want to say you get more square footage in many parts of delco compared to philly for the same price overall, but I could be wrong and that varies widely per neighborhood and situation.
