Hello all,

I'm curious to see what people's commute times are from different parts of the metro. I know there is major traffic on most highways here, but what are the actual times that it takes people to get to Center City from the outlining areas?

from West Chester? Media? Phoenixville? Abington? Horsham/Ambler? Doylestown? South Jersey?

I'm taking driving times and train times.

On the rare occasions (thank goodness) that I do drive into Center City for work, it takes me between 60 and 75 minutes from Norristown. I try to make those occasions as rare as possible -- it's bad enough that it takes me 35 minutes to drive 13 miles from Norristown to East Falls.

From East Oaklane (10-15 minutes south of Abington, straight down Old York Road--though that can be longer during rush hour), it took me 45 minutes door-to-door to drive, park, and walk to my internship at 23rd & Chestnut. If you can, I found the traffic to be better on Kelly Drive and the Parkway rather than taking the Expressway the whole way. As soon as Rt. 1 started to jam up close to 76, I just scooted to the shoulder to get off at my exit.

From Audubon/Haddon Hts area of SJ - about a 15min drive into CC - using 168 to WWB to 95. 18min train ride (plus 5-10min ride to station) from Westmont Station

From Mount Laurel area of SJ - about a 25-30min drive into CC - using Rt38 to BFB.

I don't go every day, anymore. I commuted from Wayne and Paoli by car/train for seven years. It was over an hour to 19th & Market.

But sometimes I still go down to HUP. Now, from Bucks County/intersection of Route 1 & 95..it takes anywhere from a half hour early (6) to an hour and 15 after 7.

Sometimes I can go down 295 in NJ to Cherry Hill and over the Ben Franklin faster. You can get the 6:15-ish traffic report to your cell/BB and make the decision.
