Do you think Norristown could make a big comeback and become a thriving urban center? It is the county seat of PA's wealthiest county. It is in a very heavily populated area. And urban areas in general are making huge comebacks. Yet I haven't heard anything about Norristown improving lately, with downtown development or anything. I mean even ALLENTOWN is making massive improvements in it's downtown. Will Norristown do the same?

The large influx of Mexicans has sure improved the food offerings in Norristown.

According to city-data the median income in Norristown was $35,714 in 2000; in 2012 it was $41,664.
The median home value in 2000 was $85,800; in 2012 it was $148,051.
Crime has also drastically been cut since a 2006 high.

It is also very diverse-being 36% white, 31% black, 26% Hispanic and 3% Asian; Although I'm not exactly sure how segregated it is.

I'm not sure if it will ever be "thriving" but it does appear to be making strides.

There are no major initiatives like in allentown but norristown may not need one given its location. Crime is way down, the Mexican immigration seems to have given it new life.

The Turnpike slip ramp project and the extension of Lafayette Avenue are supposed to help make the borough more convenient to access.

would rather see the Norristown RR line turned to better headways and connected through to KOP - the NHSL extension still will require a two eat ride.

Norristown has a long way to go though but connected better could be a commuter place even more offices

This line should be more rapid transit - manayunk, East Falls, Conshy, Norristown, and KOP

Sure, I'd love to see the R6 extended back to Pottstown, or at least Phoenixville. But doing that would help the 422 corridor more than it will help Norristown. And an extension to the NHSL will help KOP more than it will help Norristown.
